St Rose was from Peru. She always loved to help others, even as a child. She was very beautiful but said "only beauty of the soul is important." She offered her good works to God for sinners. She was the first saint of the Americas.
As you can see, Blaise does not always have saintly behavior! Blaise's name, however, comes from a saint whose feast day we observe every February. St. Blaise is known for blessing throats, as he once saved a young boy choking on a fish bone. He also is the patron saint of wild animals. Perhaps he can intercede on behalf of our cat? We expect that our Blaise will have lots of spunk, just like the saint he's named after!
