Here are a few snapshots from our time with Tommy's family at Lake Michigan. The picture of Blaise crawling to meet the ladies on the beach is my fave.
Tommy: Hi, it's my golden birthday. I'm trying to watch the 13th inning of the Cubs game, but my wife is forcing me to open my presents. Ping: May I assist you? Laura: Thumbs up for Funfetti cake. Blaise: Zzzzz (11:30 p.m. is way past bedtime.)
We made a family checklist for the summer of '09 and threw on there anything we had been wanting to do, but just hadn't gotten around to. One of our first checklist outings was to the Soup Box (a soup place downtown that we've always meant to try) followed by cones at McDonalds. We ended up walking home along the water and stopped to dip Blaise's toes in.
As you can see, Blaise does not always have saintly behavior! Blaise's name, however, comes from a saint whose feast day we observe every February. St. Blaise is known for blessing throats, as he once saved a young boy choking on a fish bone. He also is the patron saint of wild animals. Perhaps he can intercede on behalf of our cat? We expect that our Blaise will have lots of spunk, just like the saint he's named after!
